A Busy Weekend

Tomorrow is the big Easter Egg Hunt at the Effingham Public Library. I am baking cupcakes and bringing the apple juice. Oh, and of course the eggs. White eggs, green eggs, and brown eggs. The kids will search for filled eggs around the library, and the eggs I am donating will be for coloring. They even get to make an Easter basket to put them in. I have to make the cupcakes later. I have to think of something fun and creative for the tops. I don’t have any frosting on hand, but I am sure I will come up with something.
I have almost finished the Muriel dress for Thornton Square. I just have to finish putting on the lace and fix the collar. Her birthday is next Thursday, so I will make it on time. I thought for a day or two I wasn’t going to be done on time. No worries.
We started working on the Thornton Square website last night. We have gotten the design up and the categories. Now, I have to work on getting the pictures of the replica clothing and descriptions on there. The descriptions are always the hardest for me.
Sunday will be the day we cut a whole so the first set of chickens can actually free range again. We switched them to a new pen last fall, and they haven’t been out yet this spring. They peer out the windows, longing to scratch in the dirt again. Wait until they meet the cats.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

The showers may bring flowers, but it doesn’t help for getting much outdoor work done around here. It’s cold, and damp and no fun to do anything outdoors.
This morning I finished the chemise I had started a couple days ago. It turned out to be just what I wanted. It will be added to the Thornton Square line of clothes.
We are getting over two dozen eggs a day now. The chickens are out everyday, and having a ball. It is fun to watch them run all over the yard chasing things. Thank heavens the cats don’t chase them.
The cats do however chase every leave that blows across the yard. They are having fun, and we have fun watching them. I was sure they would be upset at us for making them outdoor cats, but I think their fun makes up for it. They have acres and acres to run and scamper after things that move. Puca, who we thought was going to be “wild” has tamed out well. Pyewacket is sweet, but now prefers to chase Puca over being in my lap. Oh, they grow so fast.
Saturday we are helping out at the library with the kids Easter Egg Hunt. We are donating the eggs for the kids to color.  I have hard boiled some white eggs, green eggs, and brown eggs. It’ll be alot of fun.
