No Sign of Pyewacket

We think that Pye must have gotten out, and has now found a new home. That is what we hope anyway. We even tried putting Puca in the barn to entice her to come out of hiding, and she didn’t. He was not to happy about being out there with giant 12 pound chickens either. We brought him in last night, and he sorrowfully meowed for her. It has been 4 days. She must be gone from us. I do hope she found a new home and isn’t lost out there. There are so many hazards for a cat in the woods.

The Barn Ate Our Pyewacket

I think our barn has a black hole in it or something. Pyewacket went in two days ago, and haven’t seen her since. We have called her name, and put out catnip to lure her in. Still she remains unseen. I think the barn ate our cat.
I am starting to think that she went in the side door, and out the front. I didn’t see her go out, but where else would she have gone. It has been 3 days. She must be hungry by now.

Still No Sign Of Pyewacket

Pyewacket walked into the barn yesterday, and has yet to show herself. Now mind you, our barn is 3 floors and is jammed packed with all sorts of stuff from feed for the animals to furniture from the house. She could be anywhere. We thought for sure she would come back for supper last night, but we haven’t seen her since. I do hope she is finding a warm fuzzy place to sleep.

One Big Barn, One Missing Kitty

Today was the kittens first day out. They stood at the back door, and gazed at this whole big new world ahead of them. They watched in awe, as the chickens ran freely around the yard. They were to afraid to leave the stoop.
A stray dog showed up, and we tied him up near the dog pen. This was even more of a reason for Puca and Pyewacket to stay indoors. They have had enough from the dogs who already reside here, never mind a wacky stray pup.
The dog officer picked up the black lab puppy shortly after lunch, but they still wouldn’t venture out to much past the door. Read the rest of this entry »

George the 2nd

It is official. We have decided to name our new Aruacana rooster George. He is so beautiful. His tail plumage is a shiny deep turquoise green to almost black. His upper body is a beautiful golden red. He is somewhat shy compared to Stallin, and that is fine by us. Stallin is a little to aggressive.
George loves his ladies, and we planning to start a “love nest” for him a a couple of his lady friends over the next weekend or two. We first have to build a bigger pen for all the rest of the birds.

A Whole New World

Today, our newest chickens got to see the world for the first time. They were quite shocked to find that there was more to life than just their coop.
We had bought them in September, and by the time they were old enough to be out from the heat lamp we had snow on the ground. It
While I was in there cleaning, they were all huddled in the corner clucking this and that. I clucked back, but it didn’t seem to reassure them at all. It was such a nice day, I felt that this would be a good day for their first trip outdoors.? I opened up the coop door, and they all ran to the corner again. I knew I was never going to get the coop cleaned so I took one and guided it to the new world. Then I took another and another. Only the first one seemed to like it out there.

Things Aren't Made Like They Use To Be

Last night, we sat down to watch some TV. Michael switched it on, to only have it shut right off. It kept going off and on as if someone was playing with us. We figured it was the ghost. We have yet to see the ghost, but we know he or she is here. We lose things all the time. What other explanation could there be.
This morning, I switched on the TV only to find that it now stayed on, but had no picture. And shortly thereafter there was an intense smell of burning plastic. Off it went.
Mind you this TV is only 9 years old. It was one of the first things we bought together as a couple. It was dear to us for just that reason. Unlike in years gone by, we can’t go buy new parts and fix it. It is now destined for the dump. How sad. Not only because it was kind of sentimental to us, but because the manufacterer made it disposable. So now, one more TV lands in the dump that could have otherwise been fixed.

In Honor of Muriel

My neighbor Muriel will be 98 in April. In honor of her birthday, I am desiging a dress that was worn in the?1911, the year she was born. I have gotten the drawing all done, but am having troubles with the box pleats on the skirt. It has a drop waist that I have to fit into a yoke, and it isn’t working out the way I had it planned in my head. I will have to sleep on it again. Tomorrow, I will start piecing it all together. I know as I put it together the light in my head will go on.
This dress will be added to the Thornton Square line of women’s replica clothes on April 16…so I better get a move on.

Coming Soon

paula-skirt-and-top

I have been tirelessly working on getting Thornton Square all ready to put on the web. I have so many different designs, it has taken time to sort them all out, and name them. We spent much of this afternoon shooting pictures to put on the site. Many of them came out, but some we will have to reshoot. I am not partial to digital cameras. They are so tempermental.
We shall soon?take some of the pictures outdoors. It should be warm enough on Tuesday. The lighting outdoors is certainly better.
Keep your eyes open for ThorntonSquare.com.

At it Again

It seems all I have been doing lately is sewing and taking pictures. I do so want to get the Thornton Square website up by the end of the week.
In the meantime, here are some pictures of my charolett-bonnetdesigns.hattie-blouse-with-paula-skirtvictoria-vest
